Geneva residencies

For the second cohort, three-week residencies in Geneva will take place mid-July through early August in 2009 and 2010.  The John Knox Center will be our base for food, lodging, and classroom space during those times.  The Center is less than a kilometer from the UN, and a short bus or bicycle ride to central Geneva.  Double-occupancy rooms and excellent food will be provided to all participants at a reasonable cost.

About Geneva

Geneva is a charming and historic city located at the western edge of Lac Léman (Lake Geneva), at the edge of the Swiss and French Alps.  It is the site of the second largest United Nations office (after New York), as well as the headquarters of dozens of international groups and organizations, including the World Health Organization, UNESCO, the UN Human Rights Council, and the UN High Commission on Refugees.  The CERN particle physics laboratory is just outside of town.

Geneva's bustling city center boasts numerous parks, cafes, and stores, with dozens of smaller towns a short distance away.  Other attractions include museums, a well-preserved old town, and the "Festival of Geneva" which occurs in early August.

Getting there

Geneva is easily accessible from all over the world by air and rail via most major European cities.  Air tickets from North America often cost only slightly more than travel to Paris, London, or Amsterdam.  The Geneva Airport is only minutes from the John Knox Center and is small, friendly, and efficient.
